Sony Starvis Camera Sensors

What’s Starvis?

The Starvis (Starlight Visibility) is back-illuminated pixel technology used in CMOS image sensors for surveillance camera applications. It features a sensitivity of 2000 mV or more and realizes high picture quality in the visible-light and near infrared light regions. In other words the visibility is a lot better than conventional cameras when there is visible light. In some settings Starvis image sensors can provide color image even when is dark.

Compared to conventional Sony image sensors, Starvis provides two times the definition of the previous technology. The light sensitivity of image sensors has been continuously improving and Starvis is the latest in this time-line, therefore provides unparalleled image quality. The advantage of this sensitivity means that now we can get more colorful images in low light settings, including dark places illuminated only by starlight.

Even in completely dark settings the F- number sensitivity dependency is much better on Starvis cameras, so image quality will also be better in black and white. The superior low light performance of Starvis cameras is also noticeable during daylight settings, specially in the indoor areas with low light. The quality that the Starvis image sensors provide completely surpasses the quality of conventional cameras, call Lightening CCTV today and ask to get a quote for a camera system with Sony Starvis image sensor cameras.
